Joe McVicker is a software architect with a career-long focus on simplifying customer-facing solutions. Over his 25+ years in the industry, he has designed and delivered systems for the Wall Street Journal and Lipper Analytical (now Reuters), Frito-Lay, the United Nations, Target Stores, and numerous other enterprises. In 2001, Mr. McVicker founded GroveSite, an on-line web collaboration portal that continues to serve hundreds of organizations globally. In 2006 he founded Altvia Solutions (formerly Application Experts) to deliver highly customized front-office capabilities to private equity fund managers using Salesforce.com.
More recently Joe co-founded and launched two businesses using Google App Engine, Cloud SQL, Django and Python: PowerWeek was on-line community for home based entrepreneurs, and Hospital IQ is dramatically improving resource utilization and scheduling for hospitals.
Right now, Joe is focused on information security and helping organizations stay ahead of digital threats like RansomeWare, Malvertising, Viruses and Spear Phishing. Protecting on-line information and systems has never been more important! Oh yea, and he’s teaching “computer coding” to the 8th Grade at Long Trail School.
